In this article we will read about the topic Time of Suhoor Pre-dawn Meal During Ramadan. Pre-dawn meal is an important part of the Ramadan fast and eating pre-dawn meal is also synonymous with the intention of fasting.
Therefore, it is important to finish pre-dawn meal before the call to prayer for dawn. In this article, we will try to discuss when the time for pre-dawn meal ends and is it permissible to eat or drink anything after it.
When does the time for pre-dawn meal end?
First of all, we understand about Time of Suhoor Pre-dawn Meal During Ramadan. When does the time for pre-dawn meal end, is it permissible to eat or drink anything after it? To find out about this, let’s first take guidance from the Holy Quran.
And eat and drink until the white thread becomes distinct to you from the black thread at dawn [Al-Baqarah: 187].
“And eat and drink until the white thread becomes distinct to you from the black thread (i.e. the dawn breaks), then complete the fast until nightfall” (Surah Al-Baqarah: 187)
In light of this verse, scholars have explained that the time for Suhoor ends as soon as the dawn breaks (the call to prayer for dawn) and the fast begins.
Therefore, it is permissible for a fasting person to eat and drink at night until the dawn breaks, when he should stop eating and drinking and fast for Ramadan.
Ruling on eating after the call to Fajr
If a person eats after the call to Fajr, his fast will not be valid and he will have to make up his fast. Tanweer al-Absaar mentions this in this regard:
“Tashahr yizhan al-youm laila wa al-fajr taale qadhi tak”
That is, if a person eats thinking that it is still night while the dawn has already broken, then only qadha is obligatory on him.
Eating after the time for Suhoor has passed by mistake
If a person eats by mistake thinking that the time for sahur is still there, even though the call to Fajr has already broken his fast, then only qadha is obligatory on such a person, that is, he will have to make up his fast for one more day. In this case, kaffarah will not be obligatory because it was not done intentionally, but due to a misunderstanding.
Eating at the time of the call to Fajr
Some people continue to eat and drink during the call to Fajr, but it is not correct to do so, but the precaution is to finish sahur a few minutes before. Because it is not permissible to eat or drink anything after the time for Suhoor has ended, because the time for Suhoor begins in the last half of the night and lasts until a few moments before dawn.
About Time of Suhoor Pre-dawn Meal During Ramadan, it was narrated from Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that: “We ate Suhoor with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and then he got up for prayer.
