Social Background

The common practice of the infidels was that when they spoke to a weak and poor person, they would curse him to his face. And when they did so, they were both “Hamzah” and “Lamzah”, since in telling someone their evil in front of them, there was a possibility that he would defend himself, and in telling someone their evil behind their backs, there was no such danger, so they used to do more evil behind their backs.

Conclusion

In this blessed Surah, the disbelievers who had hatred and enmity towards the Holy Prophet (blessings of Allah be upon him) have been given a befitting reply to the baseless accusations and slanders that these unfortunate people leveled against him (blessings of Allah be upon him).

There were some enemies of Allah and His Messenger who, in his absence and presence, would gossip and criticize him behind his back, but in the presence of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), they would not dare to speak indecently. The answer to this foul language of all these evil-minded people has been given in this Surah. We have read the full Surah Humazah English Translation in this essay.
