Summary of Surah Baqarah (Verses 213–233)

In this article we will summarize Summary of Surah Baqarah (Verses 213–233) to understand in order to increase our knowledge. In verse 213, it is stated that all people were originally one, then Allah Almighty established the system of messengers, and sent down a book of guidance for the people of every era, after which humanity divided into two groups, one group of people of truth, i.e. the followers of the prophets, and the other group of people of falsehood, i.e. the followers of the desires of the soul and the devil.

In verse 214, it is stated that to become a deserving person of Paradise, it is not enough to simply claim faith, but to face difficulties in the path of truth with perseverance.

This essay is very important for the understanding of this article and the understanding of khulasa e Quran (Surah Al-Baqarah Ayat 213-233). As the bright examples of the prophets and their true followers are before us. In verse 215, there is a statement about the expenses of spending in the way of Allah, and if verse 219 is understood in conjunction with it, it is a statement about the matter that whatever wealth is more than your needs, spend it in the way of Allah.

In this same verse, there is an initial statement about the sanctity of alcohol and gambling, that their sin is much greater than their benefit.

In verse 216, there is a statement about the obligation of jihad. Verse 221 states the prohibition of marriage with polytheist women.

Verse 222 states that intercourse with a woman is prohibited during certain days (menstruation and postpartum). Verses 224 and 225 state that if a person swears an oath that is not permissible according to the Sharia, he should break it and pay expiation.

He says, “And do not use oaths by Allah as an excuse to avoid righteousness, piety, and the well-being of people.” Verses 226 and 227 state the word “Ila”. “Ila” means that a man says to his wife that by Allah, I will not have sexual relations with you for four months or forever.

If she breaks the oath within four months by paying expiation for the oath, the marriage will remain valid, otherwise a permanent divorce will occur.

In verse 228, it is stated that the waiting period for a divorced woman is the completion of three periods of specified days. In verse 229, it is stated that even after giving two explicit divorces (whether given separately or together), the husband has the right to unilaterally return, and if he gives a third divorce, then the wife will become forbidden to him (i.e., there is no possibility of returning directly or through a second contract) except that “if the woman marries another man of her own free will after the expiry of the waiting period and he divorces her of his own free will”, then only in that case she can marry her former husband.

It also mentions Khula. In verses 231 and 232, it is stated that after giving a revocable divorce to a woman, if you intend to keep her in your marriage with good will and good conduct, then return before the waiting period ends, and if you do not intend to keep her in your marriage with good conduct, then do not return to her just to harm and torment her.

Verse 233 states that the complete period of “breastfeeding” is two years. If weaning the child in less than two years does not pose any danger to his life or if his needs can be met with other foods, then completing this period is recommended. If, God forbid, the mother of the infant is divorced, breastfeeding is still the mother’s responsibility and according to the constitution, the father of the child will be responsible for its necessary expenses.
