In verse 84, a great event from the realm of souls is mentioned, where Allah said:
“(O Prophet!) Remember when Allah took a firm covenant from all the prophets: ‘If I give you the Book and wisdom, and then a great Messenger comes to you confirming what you have, you must believe in him and support him.’ Allah then asked, ‘Do you affirm this covenant and accept this heavy responsibility?’ They replied, ‘We affirm it.’ Allah said, ‘Then bear witness, and I am also among the witnesses.'”
This covenant makes it clear that every prophet was bound to believe in and support the final Messenger, Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
The last verses of this section highlight that Islam is a continuous divine message that began with Prophet Adam (A.S.) and culminated with the final Messenger (ﷺ), calling people toward the same faith.
In verses 86 to 88, Allah warns of severe punishment for those who reject faith after believing. They will face torment without any reduction or reprieve. However, the later verses also offer hope, mentioning the forgiveness granted to those who sincerely repent.
