Faith of Khatm-e-Nubuwat

In this article we are going to read about Khatm-e-Nubuwat faith in Islam. Let’s we get clear about this topic by the use of Hadith,The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ” There is no Prophet after me.”Sunan Abu Dawud, Kitab al-Fitn wal-Mulahim, Hadith No. 2524

To learn about Khatm-e-Nubuwat of Faith, initially we learn the juristic definition of the seal of the prophets (KhatamUnNabiyyin) that nobody is going to get prophethood at the time of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) or even after his apparent death, because the sequence of prophethood has been broken with the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

Imam Ahle Sunnah Maulana Shah Ahmad Raza Khan Fadhil Barelvi (may Allah be pleased with him) has the following view:

The whole Ummah realized the implication of the Salaf and Khalaf as the last Prophet out of all descendants of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) without any differentiation. It is impossible that anyone can receive prophethood with or after the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) until the Day of Judgment.” This is real definition regarding Faith of Khatm-e-Nubuwat

This definition of Sayyiduna Aala Hazrat is highly exhaustive and it is extremely necessary to keep in mind that we are not declaring that no prophet will appear after the last Prophet (S.A.W) as Hazrat Isa (A.S) is the prophet of Allah Almighty and come in this world before the Day of Judgment.

Instead, we are declaring that no prophet will come before or after the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). There is no prophet and no new prophet will be sent after the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), therefore this is to say that now Allah Almighty will not send anyone with prophethood because He has ended the sequence of prophethood with His beloved Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Hazrat Isa (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has already received prophethood. Hence, their arrival is not against this belief. This belief is established by the authentic texts of the Holy Quran, mutawatir hadiths and the Ummah’s ijma.

Anyone who thinks another is a prophet while the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is alive or after his death, or whom he imagines to be a prophet, or believes that someone else is a prophet, or even has the slightest chance that another is a prophet, is beyond the realm of Islam and an unbeliever.

This is because one of the fundamental beliefs of Islam is that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is the last prophet. Allama Sheikhzada Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad (may Allah be pleased with him) is of the view that:

It is compulsory to have faith in our Master, our Leader Muhammad (peace be upon him) as if he is our own Messenger (not that, God forbid, the Messenger of Allah did not remain a Messenger after his death or that someone else has become our Messenger in his place)” and that the Messenger of Allah is the Seal of all Prophets and Messengers.”.

If a person believes in the Messenger of Allah but not in the Seal of the Prophets, he will not be a Muslim. Whereas in the Constitution of Pakistan, Muslim has been defined as an individual who fully and absolutely believes in the oneness and monotheism of Almighty Allah and the Seal of the Prophets, Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him), and does not believe in or accept any such individual as a Prophet or religious reformer.
