In this article, we will discuss the Translation of Surah Lail in English. This Surah, consisting of 21 ayahs, is part of the 30th portion (Juz) of the Holy Quran. All the Islamic commentators and scholars accept that this Surah is of Makki origin.
Translation of Surah Lail in English:
- By night, when it covers.
- And by the day when it shines.
- By Allah, who brought into being the male and the female
- Indeed, your efforts are different.
- Then whoever gives and is pious.
- And confirms the good word.
- Then we will make it easy for him to reach Paradise.
- But whoever is stingy and careless.
- And denies the good word.
- Then we will make it easy for him to find the ways to Hell.
- Neither his money nor his status will benefit him when he is hurled into the blaze.
- Indeed, we must guide.
- And indeed, in Our hands is the Hereafter and this world.
- So, I have warned you of a blazing Fire.
- Which none but the unfortunate will enter.
- Whoever denies and turns away.
- And from that Fire, the most pious will be far away.
- Who gives his wealth so that he may be purified.
- And there is no favor upon him that he should be recompensed for.
- He gives only for the pleasure of his Lord, the Highest.
- And he will soon be pleased.
Evidence for the Oneness of Allah:
Allah swore by the night, in which every living being reaches its place and rests and relieves its fatigue, then sleep covers it, which brings relief to its body.
Their evidence for the divinity and oneness of Allah is that the cycle of night and day has always continued in the same way, it has never happened that night did not come or that day did not come, and always in summer the days are long and the nights are short, and in winter the nights are long and the days are short, usually in summer there is a day of fourteen hours and a night of this hour.
In winter, there is a fourteen-hour night and a ten-hour day; then it does not happen that after a fourteen-hour night, ten days immediately follow, but the decrease and increase of day and night gradually occur one minute at a time, just as heat does not come immediately after cold, but gradually.
Summary of Surah Lail:
Night and day, which have to come and go repeatedly on the creation, have been made by Allah Almighty as two great signs of His power and His monotheism, and everyone believes in them, whether he is a believer or a disbeliever, a follower of a religion or an atheist. In this Surah, Allah Almighty has mentioned the signs of His power.
