Dua,s for Muslims at the Time of Breaking the Fast

In this essay we will read about Dua,s for Muslims at the Time of Breaking the Fast. It is narrated from Hazrat Mu’adh bin Zahra (may Allah be pleased with him) that the last Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to supplicate at the time of breaking his fast:

 اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ صُمْتُ وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ أَفْطَرْتُ

Allāhumma laka ṣumtu wa ʿalā rizqika afṭartu.

O Allah, I have fasted for You and I have broken my fast with Your provision.

It is narrated from Hazrat Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to recite supplication at the time of breaking his fast.

الحمد للہ الذی اعاننی فصمت ورزقنی فافطرت

Alḥamdu lillāhi alladhī aʿāananī faṣumtu wa razaqanī fa-afṭartu.

All praise is due to Allah, who has helped me to fast and provided me with sustenance from which I broke my fast.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Salim Al-Mufqa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that I saw Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) trimming his beard when it was longer than his fist. He said that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to supplicate at the time of breaking his fast. It would be in these words:

ذھب الظلما وابتلت العرو ق و ثبت الاجر ان شاء اللہ

Dhahaba al-ẓulma’u wa-ibtallati al-ʿuruq wa-thabata al-ajru in shā’ Allāh.

The thirst has been quenched, the veins have become moist, and the reward will surely be received, if Allah Almighty wills.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (RA) that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) used to recite supplication at the time of breaking the fast.

اللھم لک صمنا و علی رزقک افطرنا فتقبل منا انک انت السمیع العلیم

Allāhumma laka ṣumnā wa ʿalā rizqika afṭarnā fa-taqabbal minnā innaka anta al-Samīʿ al-ʿAlīm.

O Allah! We have fasted for You and broken our fast with Your provision. So, accept it from us. Indeed, you are the Hearing, the Knowing.

It is narrated in Abu Dawud from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to recite supplication at the time of breaking the fast.

اللھم انی اسئلک برحمتک التی وسعت کل شئءِ ِ ان تغفرلی ذنوبی

Allāhumma innī as’aluka biraḥmatika allātī wasiʿat kulla shay’in an taghfir lī dhunūbī.

O Allah, by Your mercy, which is greater than all things, I ask You to forgive my sins.
