According to Abu Ja’far Nahas: Family refers to a man’s relatives on his father’s and wife’s side. And according to the two companions, namely Imam Abu Yusuf and Imam Muhammad: The family prefers to those people on whom a person spends, those individuals are not counted among his servants. This aspect is guided by the statement of Allah the Highest that We saved them and their families.
Importance of Family in Society
Family is a social unit based on kinship, and kinship is a social relationship that is linked to lineage, breastfeeding, and marriage. The division of the family has been different in different ways based on values, religion, society, and culture, such as patrilineal, matrilineal, etc.
But mostly the terms central family and joint family are used for it. The central family includes parents and unmarried children, while the joint family also includes the parents’ siblings and their children.
The family is an institution whose power can be gauged from the fact that social status, nationality, race, religion, and marital matters. It is even considered final in determining what is legitimate and what is illegitimate. This is why a child born in such a family is not just a newborn but is considered an important member of society. That is why the child is considered a tomorrow’s field man or a worker.
