The Holy Night (shab-e-braat)

 In the light of the Qur’an: Shab e Bra,at is mentioned in Sura al-Dakhan of the Holy Qur’an. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “We sent it down on a blessed night, indeed We are warners.” According to commentators, this verse refers to Shab e Bra,at, which is a blessed and important night. In the light of hadith: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has narrated many hadiths about the virtue and importance of Shab e Bra,atshab-e-braat.

Some hadiths are as follows:

It is narrated from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When the night of Baraat comes, Allah frees people from hell equal to the number of hairs of the goats of the Banu Club.” (Tirmidhi)

It is narrated from ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When it is the night of half of Sha’baan, Allah sends down the heavens to the earth and forgives people equal to the number of goats of the tribe of Banu Kalb.” (Ibn Majah)

Abu Musa al-Ash’ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “On the fifteenth night of Sha’baan, Allah pays attention to creation and forgives all His servants except the polytheists and those who have a cane.” (Ibn Majah)

Night of Mercy and Forgiveness: Shab-e-Barat is considered to be the night of mercy and forgiveness. On that night, Allah sends special mercy on His servants and opens the doors of forgiveness. This night is the best opportunity to ask Allah for forgiveness for your sins.

According to some scholars, Shab-e-Barat is called “Laylat al-Bara’ah” because Allah decides the fate of human beings on that night. By praying to Allah almighty on this night, there is hope for improvement in destiny.

Naafil and Worship:

On the night of Shab-e-Barat, special arrangements are made for naafil and worship. Muslims recite more and more naafils, pray and ask forgiveness and recite the Qur’an on this night.

Charity and Charity:

It is also considered very important to give charity and charity on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat. Muslims help the poor and needy on this night so that they can get the blessings of Allah Almighty.

Visiting graves:

In some countries, it is also a tradition for Muslims to visit graves on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat. They pray for their departed souls and pray for forgiveness for them.
