Quranic basis:
To understand, intercourse’s during the Day in Ramadan, must read following lines. Allah Almighty has made this clear in Surah Al-Baqarah, where the rulings on fasting are explained:
“So have intercourse with your wives and seek what Allah has ordained for you. And eat and drink until the white of the morning becomes distinct to you from the black of the night. Then complete the fast until night.” (Al-Baqarah: 187)

Intercourse with your wife during the night-from sunset to dawn-is permitted.
It is obligatory to fast from dawn unto sunset without any interruption.
Explanation of the Prophetic Hadiths
Narrated in Sahih Bukhari:
Hazrat Abu Hurairah – may Allah be pleased with him – narrated that a man came to the Prophet – peace and blessings of Allah be upon him – and said: “I am ruined!” He – peace and blessings of Allah be upon him – asked: “What happened to you?” He said: “I had sexual intercourse with my wife during the day during Ramadan.” The Messenger of Allah – ﷺ – said: “Do you have a slave whom you can free?” He said: “No.” He asked: “Can you fast for two consecutive months?” He said: “No.” He asked: “Can you feed sixty poor people?” He said: “No.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Kitab al-Sawm, Chapter Idha Jame fi Ramadan, Hadith No.: 1936)
Details of expiation:
After this, the Messenger of Allah – ﷺ – handed him a bag of dates and said: “Give it in charity.” Thereupon the man said: “O Messenger of Allah! There is no one needier than me and my family.” His words made the Messenger of Allah smile, and then he said to him: “Feed your family.” (Sunan Abu Dawud, Kitab al-Sawm, Chapter on Expiation for One Who Visits His Family in Ramadan, Hadith No. 2390)

Hanafi School:
Imam Abu Hanifa – may Allah have mercy on him – says that it is prohibited for the one who is fasting to have sexual intercourse during the day, and this invalidates the fast. According to him, there are three conditions for expiation to be obligatory:
The act of fasting should be obligatory – Fasting in Ramadan.
Knowledge that sexual intercourse is haraam
It must be voluntary

Maliki School:
Intercourse on the day of Ramadhan: According to Imam Malik, RA, it breaks the fast and expiation becomes obligatory, provided the person is an adult, sane and free.

Shafi’i School:
Imam Shafi’i – May Allah have mercy on him – says that sexual intercourse while fasting is forbidden and invalidates the fast, where the order of expiation would come: first freeing a slave, if that is not possible, then fasting for two months, then feeding sixty poor people.

Hanbali School:
In the school of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal – may Allah have mercy on him – sexual intercourse during the day also breaks the fast. According to him, the expiation is fixed and there is no reduction in it.

The Shariah Status of Expiation
The following expiation is wajib upon a person who intentionally has sexual intercourse during the fast of Ramadan, according to all Imams:
Emancipating a slave-if one had one. If this is not possible, then fasting for sixty consecutive days. If this is not possible, then feeding sixty poor people
Exceptional Circumstances
The jurists have dictated that leniency is permissible in some cases:
But if someone out of forgetfulness or by mistake has sexual intercourse during the day, then only qadha becomes obligatory on him, and not expiation. If he cannot fast – illness, weakness – then there is no expiation.
It is permissible to have sexual intercourse while traveling and breaking the fast. Psychological and moral aspects In this judgment, the Islamic law that considers fully the human nature has completely permitted the marital relations during the night, while banning them during the daytime so that: Spiritual training through fasting is maintained. Control over sensual desires is practiced.
One attains purification of the soul and body. Summary and conclusion All schools of jurisprudence forbid sexual intercourse during the day in Ramadan, from the time of dawn until the setting of the sun, because it invalidates the fast, rendering expiation obligatory. This is based on clear texts from the Quran and Hadith, and all scholars concur upon it.
