Translation of Surah Nuh English

  • Verily, We dispatched Noah to his nation as a herald of a severe torment that would befall them.
  • He declared, “O my people, I have been sent to you as a plain-spoken warner,
  • Commanding you to devote your worship to Allah alone, to be mindful of Him, and to follow my guidance.
  • If you do so, He will absolve you of your faults and grant you sustenance until a pre-ordained time. Surely, the era decreed by Allah is certain; once it is due, it cannot be postponed. If you could only understand this truth.”
  • He later prayed, “My Lord, I have called my people to Your path incessantly, throughout the night and the day.
  • Yet, instead of heeding, they only became more entrenched in their deviance.
  • Every time I invited them to seek Your forgiveness, they would plug their ears with their fingers, envelop themselves in their robes, and grow increasingly insolent.
  • They stubbornly covered their heads with their garments, persisting in their pride.
  • Consequently, I proclaimed the message to them in public gatherings,
  • And I also conveyed it to them in private counsel.
  • I urged them, ‘Plead for your Lord’s pardon—indeed, He is infinitely forgiving.
  • He shall cascade upon you abundant showers from the celestial heights
  •  And He will enrich you with affluence, bless you with offspring, and grant you flourishing orchards with ever-streaming waterways.
  • And will provide you with prosperity, and sons, and will bestow upon you lush gardens and flowing rivers.
  • Why do you not contemplate the immense power and majesty of Allah?
  • Behold how He fashioned you in a sequence of stages?
  • Do you not see how He built the seven heavens in tiers, one above the other?
  • And He caused the moon to shine with a reflected glow among them, and made the sun a brilliant, burning source of light?”
  • And Allah originated your creation from the earth’s dust, and to it He will return you, and from it He will raise you forth a second time.
  • For your benefit, He has fashioned the earth as a broad, level ground
  • So that you may travel through its wide paths and passages.’”
  • Noah then lamented, “My Lord, they have rebelled against me and have instead chosen to follow those whose possessions and progeny were of no avail to them whatsoever.
  • Moreover, they devised a most formidable plot [against the truth].
  • They insisted, ‘Do not renounce your deities! Never abandon Wadd, nor Suwa’, nor Yaghuth, and Ya’uq, and Nasr!’
  • By this, they have caused multitudes to stray. My Lord, let the wicked find nothing but further misguidance.”
  • Thus, they were overwhelmed by the flood for their iniquities and were ushered into the Hellfire, where they discovered no protector besides Allah.
  • And Noah supplicated, “My Lord, do not allow a single one of these deniers to remain upon the earth.
  • For if You spare them, they will surely lead Your servants astray and beget only more generations of corrupt, faithless ingrates.
  • My Lord, grant Your forgiveness to me, my parents, every believer who has entered my home, and all faithful men and women. And do not increase the wrongdoers in anything except their own perdition.”
