In the name of Allah Almighty, in this essay we will read about the topic of 30 False Claimants of Prophethood. The final Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) narrated: “There shall be thirty false Dajjals (impostors claiming prophethood) among my Ummah. Each one will consider that he is a prophet, though I am the “Seal of the Prophets”, and there shall be no (prophet) after me.” Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith No. 2524
The following is a try to present short information regarding the false prophets of prophethood. Please keep in mind:
Aswad Al-Ansi:
He assumed prophethood during the blessed life of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), in 11 AH. Firuz Al-Daylami murdered him.
Musaylimah Al-Kadhab:
He emerged during the Prophetic period from Yamamah in the 21 AH year.
Suja’ bint Harith:
He married Musaylimah Al-Kadhab. Following the marriage of Musaylimah, his clan turned against him and kept himself away from him.
Tuliha bin Khuwaylid:
He was from Banu Asad. He apostatized in the time of the Prophet and proclaimed prophethood, but ultimately, he repented and became a Muslim. In the time of Farooqi (RA), he arrived from Syria to perform Hajj and pledged allegiance to Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA).
Mukhtar bin Abu Ubaid Thaqafi:
He killed the killers of the martyrs of Karbala, but he assumed false prophethood and was assassinated by Mus’ab bin Zubair (RA) and his followers.
Harith bin Saeed Damashki:
He assumed prophethood in 96 AH. Caliph Abdul Malik bin Marwan got him assassinated.
Mughirah bin Saeed:
He professed false prophethood in 911 AH. Khalid bin Abdullah bound his head to a bunch of rope and burned him alive.
Bayan bin Samaan Tamimi:
He proclaimed false prophethood in 911 AH. Khalid bin Abdullah burned him alive as well.
Ishaq Akhras:
A resident of North Africa.
Salih bin Kharif:
He too belonged to North Africa. Hisham bin Abdul Malik ended him.
Ustad Sis Khorasani:
He proclaimed false prophethood in Herat and Sijistan. He was assassinated by Khidmat bin Khuzaymah during the time of Caliph Mansur.
Hamdan bin Ash’ath Qarmati:
He was imprisoned by the ruler of Kufa.
Ali bin Muhammad Khahri:
He proclaimed false prophethood in 702 AH and got killed in 072 AH.
Hamim or Amim bin Minallah:
He declared false prophethood in the land of “Rif” and ended up in hell in a battle in 913 AH.
The following unfortunate people also declared false prophethood, but due to lack of pages, only names are being mentioned.
There are some name of persons who claimed of prophethood, in this way we can understand 30 False Claimants of Prophethood. Ali bin Fadl al-Yamani, Abdul Aziz ba-Sindi, Abu al-Qasim Ahmad bin Qusayy, Abu al-Tayyib Ahmad bin Hussain al-Mutanabi, Abdul-Haq bin Sab’in al-Mursi, Ba-Yazid Roshan al-Jalandhari, Baha Farid al-Nishapuri, Babak bin Abdullah, Abu Mansur Isa bar-Ghawati, Asghar Taghlib, Abdul-Aziz al-Trabulsi, Baha’u’llah, the Caliph of Baha’u’llah, the Bab-Allah, and the false prophet of the Indian subcontinent.
Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani: This slave was born to Murtaza Mughal. This unfortunate person first proclaimed to be a Mujaddid. Then, he initially claimed to be the image of Christ, then in the same year he professed himself to be the Promised Messiah, and still not satisfied with that, he also began referring to himself as the genuine Messiah in the same year. Subsequently, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani proclaimed himself to be above Jesus (peace be upon him). As the affair went on, this rascal announced that he was the Zilli-e-Barozi Prophet. (Zilli-e-Barozi was created by Mirza and it indicates that he is the unmatched shadow of the personality of Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and Barozi indicates that all the perfections and qualities of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) have emerged in his (Mirza) person.) Then he made a suggestion that he was an unreal prophet, besides claiming to be the possessor of the Sharia and the real prophet, he also claimed to be the real Muhammad and ascended to the height of his baseness when he announced that he was greater than the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).
This misguided individual has come to his end, but his progeny is doing their best to promulgate the misguidance of their father, but the crown holder of the title of the Seal of Prophethood, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), is paying the right of slavery and protecting the Seal of Prophethood.
Now the question is that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stated that there will be thirty false antichrists (claimants of Prophethood) among my Ummah. Every one of them will believe that he is a Prophet, though I am the “Seal of the Prophets”, there is no one (Prophet) thereafter, whereas there are more than thirty false claimants to Prophethood according to scholars, nobody knows when the Hour will arrive and how many unlucky individuals will make false claims to Prophethood, then it will be greater than 30.
The reply is that the reference in the blessed hadith to thirty false claimants to prophethood implies that people will accept the tribulation of these false claimants and follow them, not that more than thirty people will not assert. Concerning this, Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan Naeemi (may Allah have mercy on him) states:
30 False Claimants of Prophethood are those whom people had accepted as prophets and their corruption spread. There are a lot of other kinds of claimants to prophethood who were not accepted by anyone, they died saying nonsense, look, the tribulation of our nation Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani, the claimant to prophethood, spread a lot, besides this we have observed a lot of claimants to prophethood who were not given any heed to.”. They perished proclaiming themselves prophets, and therefore there is no criticism of the hadith that hitherto the number of spurious claimants to prophethood has been more than 100.
